I’m so glad you’re here.

I started my professional journey working with marginalized communities in the foster care system, homeless shelters, underserved school settings, and community mental health for over 15 years in various roles. These were communities that were close to home for me. As a Korean American cis woman and child of immigrants, I've personally known family violence, addiction, severe mental illness, intergenerational trauma, grief and loss, and traumas of various kinds. My lived experience lead me into the healing profession, in search for hope and healing for my own life.

I completed my M.S. in Marital and Family Therapy from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology in Pasadena, California and I’m currently in my 14th year of practice as a licensed marriage and family therapist MFC No. 83772. My clinical experience over the years has been at child and family clinics, schools between K-12, and adult outpatient centers within Los Angeles County. I have had a wide range of experiences working with children, adults suffering from mental illness of varying severity, couples in different stages of their relationships, marginalized folx with different abilities and different sexual orientations & gender identities, the older population, and families from diverse backgrounds.

It has been quite the journey of healing as I have had the privilege of being a fellow journeyer in other people’s healing work as well as navigating my own healing in psychotherapy for many years. I have lived experience working through difficult family of origin relationships and friendships, healing intergenerational trauma, deconstructing my Christian faith and integrating a more authentic spirituality that aligns with my truths, working through my imposter syndrome and Asian American identity, and learning to care for all parts of my whole being. I used to live from a place of scarcity, constantly striving for more, always overextending myself until I burned out, staying in relationships that were harmful, and being okay with helping others at my expense.

After a traumatic childbirth and near-death experience with my first child, I suffered from postpartum trauma for nearly 18 months. All that I knew came into question. With much soul searching during one of the darkest seasons of my life, I encountered a new part of me emerge. A part that wanted to truly live from a place of abundance, dream beyond what I felt was achievable, empower people, and impact the world for good beyond the ways I had limited myself to.

 My Work

After much hesitation about entering the entrepreneur world, I took the plunge and started my private practice, Oak and Stone Therapy, which has now turned into a group practice over the years. I wanted to work with my ideal clients, working with people who share in my lived experiences and identities.

I work with Asian American healers, creators, founders, entrepreneurs, people in the arts, and public figures wanting to dive deep and get to work as it pertains to their inner lives. I have a special interest in working with adults and couples navigating difficult family of origin relationships, codependency in their partnerships and friendships, stressors of balancing a demanding career and family life, entrepreneur life in a hustle culture, creative and performance blocks, deconstructing their Christian faith and wanting to integrate a more authentic spirituality, and exploring their racial, ethnic, gender, professional, and spiritual identity.

One of my mentors told me that the best healers are the ones who have done the work themselves. Although my personal work is not done, I assure you that what I teach, preach, and guide you in my work is work I commit myself to. When you get your inner life in order, it overflows into your outer life. My clients often express that they appreciate my direct and attentive approach to therapy, tending to the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual parts as well as the many other identities that make up who we are. I approach my work with creativity and openness, leaving room for the unexpected to happen in my sessions. Our work in therapy is dynamic, deep, and practical.

I integrate all parts of myself in my work, whether it be in therapy, writing, or creating works of art. I will go the extra mile with you, willing to have honest conversations that may feel uncomfortable at times but will pave a way forward to experience your truths. We will laugh, sometimes cry together, dream, have hard conversations, and nurture the most authentic version of yourself. I invite you to access all of the resources available to you—your community, faith, knowledge, skillsets, personality, and lived experience. If you think we might be a good fit, reach out to me. Let's get to work.
